She has three kids under eight, a health and wellness empire and is one of the most sought-after celebs in the biz, so if anyone understands the importance of maximising shut-eye it’s defo Kourtney Kardashian.

But in the age of stars spruiking their weird sleeping secrets – Mariah Carey and her 20 humidifiers, anyone?! – Kourt’s sure-fire tactic for catching the zzz’s is actually surprisingly normal: co-sleeping.

The 38-year-old shares sons Reign Aston, 3, Mason Dash, 8, and daughter Penelope Scotland, 5, with her on-again-off-again partner Scott Disick

“Getting the kids to sleep through the night in my home was different for each individual child,” she penned in a post on her website. “When I had Mason, co-sleeping kind of happened naturally. It’s what worked for all of us to get the most sleep, so I quickly embraced it.”

The Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s star explained that she thoroughly researched the benefits and criticisms of the method, before trying it for herself.

“I also used certain things like the DockATot (a portable crib and bassinet), which gave me more peace of mind,” she added.

Once their second child came along, the couple made a few adjustments and began to follow the co-sleeping style touted by Dr. Sears in The Attachment Parenting Book.

“During this time, Mason was also sleeping most nights in my bed,” she added. “We made it work and I really just followed his lead for when we both felt he was ready to sleep in his room.”

However, when it came to their youngest, it was a completely different story:

“Reign was the other one who has always slept in his own bed. We didn’t use any sleep-training methods for him. By 2 1/2, he started sleeping through the whole night without waking up,” she wrote.

“Before, he would wake up a few times during the night and need a little back rub to get back to sleep. Sometimes he would fall back to sleep on his own too, so I really just felt things out as a mum.”

Co-sleeping is often considered controversial – with many experts divided over it – but plenty of parents, including Kourtney, continue to sing its praises.

“With co-sleeping, I didn’t have to get up out of bed to get the kids back to sleep whenever they woke during the night,” she continued.

“It was easier when one of the kids woke up, since I was right there. Co-sleeping just ended up feeling like we all got more sleep. Also as a working mum, if I didn’t have much time with the kids during the day, at least I knew we’d have the evening together as a family.”

Her best advice when sussing sleeping methods? Listen to your child’s needs.

“Every kid is different, so if it works for you and your family, that’s the most important thing!”
