The $6 Product That Keeps Gwen Stefani's Hair Hydrated Despite WEEKLY Dye Sessions

In the world of hair envy, Gwen Stefani tops our list. Her super blonde hair never has roots and always looks on point. But…how does she pull it off?

According to her longtime stylist Danilo Dixon, who spoke with Refinery29 , Gwen gets her hair coloured a LOT: once a week, to be exact. Dixon says he dyes it using a signature bleach-free formula every Monday before filming The Voice. But all that colouring, blow drying, and heat styling can create mega damage, and she still needs to look like the boss girl she is on set.

Dixon’s secret weapon? Pantene Smoothing Combing Creme ($6 at walgreens.com and $10.50 at woolworths.com.au). “I mist it onto clean, dry hair to start, then I put in my volumisers, and maybe mousse, depending on the hair,” he says. “I dry them in with a mixed-bristle brush, always blowing in the direction of my style.” he said. Plus, this particular leave-in conditioner can be used repeatedly without messing up hair. “You can reapply it over and over on set and it doesn’t get greasy,” he said.

Here’s to getting super soft, shiny, and flayaway-free hair—even if you’re not appearing on TV tonight.
