She’s Got Jokes! Blake Lively Trolls Ryan Reynolds Over His Bad Parenting

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are two of Hollywood’s finest — and funniest — parents.

The Gossip Girl alum, 31, hilariously trolled her husband in a video Opens a New Window. Reynolds, 42, posted to Twitter on Monday, February 25, to promote his upcoming film Detective Pikachu. In the clip, the Deadpool actor talks about getting into character for his voice role in the Pokémon movie, which he joked made him forgo his dad duties.

“As many of you know, I vanish into my roles,” Reynolds says in the video. “You know, this is a funny anecdote. I was on my way to pick up my daughters from school when I heard that I got the role. Well, I didn’t show up at school. Because, Detective Pikachu doesn’t know who those two little girls are. Who are they?”

The camera then pans to Lively, who chimes in: “They’re our daughters. He just left them … I mean, he didn’t even change his voice. It just sounds like him.” The Proposal star then went on to quip that his daughters, James, 4, and Inez, 2, “may never see their dad again,” but “you can be damn sure they’ll be looking up at the big screen this summer, and they’re going to see Detective Pikachu.”

A laughing Lively shook her head in response, adding, “We’re not going.”

The couple — who tied the knot in September 2012 — are no strangers to trolling each other on social media. While Lively was promoting her role of Emily Nelson in A Simple Favor last year, Reynolds was quick to poke fun.

“He seems nice,” Reynolds wrote in the comments section of his wife’s Instagram in September in response to a poster from the movie that showed her standing over a seemingly naked man.

Reynolds also joked about his parenting skills — or lack thereof — during a Comic-Con panel in July.

“My wife’s been shooting a film overseas so I’ve been having a ton of time to pretend like I’m watching the kids,” Reynolds said at the time. “She’s probably filing [divorce] papers as we speak.”

And it seems their sense of humor helps keep their love alive. “They have such a solid relationship,” a source told Us Weekly in August 2018. “They truly couldn’t be happier and more in love.”
