Sarah Hyland Slams Body-Shaming Trolls Telling Her to 'Eat Some Bread'

Sarah Hyland has previously expressed that she doesn't have time for Internet trolls, but on Tuesday, she set them straight yet again on one important fact: The Modern Family actor does not, in fact, need to "eat some bread," since she's already a major "carbivore." Hyland took to her Instagram Story to shut down some folks who felt the need not only to comment on her body, but also to take it a step further and recommend some additions to her diet.

"I've been reading some of your DMs and so many of you are like, 'Girl, you fine, but like, eat some bread!'" she said in a selfie video per People before directing any questions, comments, or concerns toward her boyfriend, former Bachelorette star Wells Adams. "I would like to put in a request for anyone who is concerned about my bread consumption to send it to Wells Adams, because he is the sole person who knows about how much bread I consume on a daily basis. Thanks! Love you, mean it. 'K, bye," Hyland said.

Shortly after, Adams went ahead and shut down any imminent "bread concerns" in an Instagram Story selfie video of his own. "Just saw Sarah's story. Apparently, there are concerns about how much bread she eats. I can vouch for her that she truly is — she's not a carnivore, she's a carbivore," he said. Take that, haters!

Hyland has been targeted countless times before by body shamers who call her too thin and, even more shockingly, accuse her of having an eating disorder. In May 2017, she handily shut down those cyberbullies in an extensive Twitter post in which she explained that she'd experienced several months of health troubles that often left her bedridden and unable to work out, and caused her to lose weight. (Hyland has kidney dysplasia and underwent a kidney transplant in 2012.)

Hyland also responded specifically to those who suggest she "eat a burger" and say that her head is larger than her body. "You're right! I should eat a burger! 'Cause they're f*cking delicious! But guess what. I do. And again, you're right. No one's head should be bigger than their body but considering I've basically been on bed rest for the past few months, I've lost a lot of muscle mass. My circumstances have put me in a place where I'm not in control of what my body looks like."

She ended by recommending that those reading the post go forth and spread love, be happy, and "adopt puppies!" "I am working hard to maintain my weight by eating as much protein as possible and continue to be strong and healthy," she wrote. "There's no need to worry. I've been down before and I'll probably be down again in my lifetime but I'm steadfast and solid and will conquer my obstacles."
