- A large abcess on her cheek had to be drained after becoming filled with pus
- The procedure is clearly painful but Ms Marbury smiles and laughs at the end
Nauseating footage shows the moment pus flows out of a huge abcess on the face of a woman as she has it drained by professionals.
Nicole Marbury, 38, from Newport News in Virginia, winces and moans in pain as the grape-sized abcess on her cheek is punctured and drained by a needle and scissors.
The clip shows pus and blood leak down Ms Marbury’s neck as trained specialists put pressure on the abcess, which took less than a week to grow to its shocking size.
She said afterwards the numbing did not work and that the process was ‘extremely painful’.
Ms Marbury dabs her tongue with a towel, saying she can ‘taste it’ after the specialist injects something into her cheek.

She moans loudly in pain as implements are pressed into the abcess to squeeze out pus
Ms Marbury decided to film the moment her abscess was removed on March 20 to show others the procedure.
It shows her moan loudly in pain as the abscess is sliced open with scissors and yellow pus runs down her chin like lava from a volcano.
Ms Marbury said: ‘I only had the abscess for five days before it was removed.
‘I don’t know what caused it but it got so large that I knew I needed it draining properly.
‘The procedure was extremely painful, there are no words to describe.
‘During the process I felt everything – the numbing didn’t work.
‘The abscess has now gone but I can still feel a little bump under the skin.’
The person performing the procedure has to begin the process by slicing the skin to allow pus and blood to flow out
Ms Marbury said afterwards that the numbing agent did not work and the draining was ‘extremely painful’
After the abcess is drained a man off camera – presumed to be carrying out the procedure – calls the disgusting liquid ‘nasty stuff’.
WHAT IS A SKIN ABCESS?
A skin abcess is usually a swollen, pus-filled lump under the skin which is likely to have been caused by a bacterial infection.
The abcess may cause other symptoms such as a fever.
Most skin abscesses are caused by bacteria getting into a cut, a hair root or a blocked oil or sweat gland.
The abcess grows when the immune system sends white blood cells to the area to fight the bacteria.
As the blood cells attack the bacteria, some nearby tissue dies, creating a hole which then fills with pus to form an abscess. The pus contains a mixture of dead tissue, white blood cells and bacteria.

He replies: ‘You did great,’ then refers to the procedure as a ‘big old pop’.
A woman off camera asks if Ms Marbury has any final words, to which she replies ‘nope’, then laughs.

Anyone who thinks they have an abcess should visit their GP because it may need antibiotic treatment or to be drained, as in Ms Marbury’s case.
