Actress Sarah Hyland has faced backlash from her fans over the past couple of months for posting ‘skinny’ photos on her Instagram.
Some of her fans have even expressed concerns that she is struggling with an eating disorder.
She got a particularly large number of body-shaming comments on a photo of her in a T-Shirt.

She received hateful comments like ‘no one’s head should be bigger than their body’ and wrote a detailed message on Twitter to respond to claims she was ‘promoting anorexia’.
She explained that for her, the way she looks at the moment is not a choice, and though she can’t disclose the full details at the moment for privacy reasons, she is having a tough year that has brought on a lot of physical changes.
“I love to be outdoors,” she wrote. “I love to be STRONG… Strength is everything. Being strong has gotten me where I am. Both mentally and physically.”

She added that she’s ‘not a fan of being skinny’ but has been on bed rest for the past few months which has made her lose muscle mass.
“No one should aim to be the weight I am at right now. I am working hard to maintain my weight by eating as much protein as possible and continue to be STRONG and healthy. There’s no need to worry!”
She finished her story by reminding people that they should never succumb to the comments of others – because people will always have something to criticise.
