Iskra Lawrence Claps Back At Being Labelled “Plus Size”

If you’re not yet acquainted with Iskra Lawrence, the UK model is renowned not only for being a mega babe but a champion for body positivity. Her honest and unretouched presence on social media has earned her nearly four million followers on Instagram.

And the 27-year-old is making headlines at the moment for her epic clap back at a publication that labelled her plus size in a recent tweet. She re-tweeted the post but replaced their caption with her own.

Iskra isn’t the only model to speak out against the term, Ashley Graham recently told CBS Sunday Morning that the word ‘plus size’ is divisive to women.

“I think that when you use the word ‘plus-size,’ you’re putting all these women into a category,” she explained.

“The fashion industry may persist to label me as ‘plus-size,’ but I like to think of it as ‘my size,’” she said. “Curvy models are becoming more and more vocal about the isolating nature of the term ‘plus-size.’ We are calling ourselves what we want to be called — women, with shapes that are our own.”

Our very own Robyn Lawley, who wears a size 12, also said she’s never been comfortable with being labelled as such and hoped that one day the term would outgrow its use.

“I hate the term plus-size,” Robyn told ABC’s Australian Story. “I hate the tag.”

“I don’t know if I consider myself as a plus-size model or not,” she also previously told Time. “I just consider myself a model because I’m trying to help women in general accept their bodies.”

We’re all for that.
