Facialist and body-care expert at The Body Shop, Vanda Serrador, 42, shares her day on a plate.
Vanda Serrador.
7.30am I start my day with a 15-minute meditation and an oil pulling (swishing around coconut oil in my mouth and then spitting it out), which helps to draw out toxins.
7.45am Cold-pressed juice with beetroot, apple, carrot, lemon and ginger. I like to keep my liver cleansed with beetroot juice!
10.30am Breakfast time. Today is a big bowl of dairy-free porridge, topped with granola and peanut butter.
3.45pm For a late lunch, I have a Thai yellow coconut curry with baby corn, button mushroom, red pepper, aubergine and brown rice.
5.15pm I snack on 25g of dark chocolate with sea salt.
7.45pm I go out for a Japanese dinner with friends. Starter is a seafood ceviche, then I have mixed tuna and salmon sashimi for my main. All with a glass of wine!
9.30pm Peppermint tea, followed by a 15-minute meditation and bed.
Dr Joanna McMillan says:
Top marks for… Eating out healthily. Your fish dinner was protein-rich while delivering anti-inflammatory omega-3 fats, essential for brain and heart health. I'd just make sure you also order plenty of plant foods, such as edamame or a seaweed salad.
If you keep eating like this you'll… Keep your body well nourished, but do take care not to fall for fads. I hate to say it but swirling with coconut oil does not draw out toxins and no food specifically cleanses your liver.
Why don't you try… Taking care to incorporate calcium-rich foods if you don't want to, or can't, consume dairy: try fish with edible soft bones, tofu, calcium-enriched soy milk, almonds and green vegies.
