Today marks the one-year anniversary of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. And while the royal family continues to grieve, several of her grandchildren took a moment to share sweet tributes on this somber day.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have already made two Instagram posts. In the most recent, the Duke and Duchess of Wales shared photos from the queen’s funeral.
“A moment of reflection at St. David’s Cathedral honouring Her Late Majesty and all that she did for communities like this around the UK, the Commonwealth and the world,” they wrote.
And in the first, they shared a carousel with stunning solo shots of the queen, a picture of her with 10 of her great-grandchildren (Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are noticeably absent), and a photo from the Queen’s Jubilee of herself, now-King Charles, William, Kate, and their three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
“Today we remember the extraordinary life and legacy of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth,” they captioned that post. “We all miss you. W & C”
You can feel how much love they had for her in these special photos. Princess Eugenie also honored her late grandma on Instagram. She shared an old photo of the two of them dressed casually, sitting on a wood bench outside of a cabin.
“Thinking of you today,” Princess Eugenie captioned her more intimate post. “Missing you so much but remembering what a life of service, love and dedication to everyone and to your family, who loved you so very much. Forever grateful to you. And always in my heart. ❤️❤️”
It makes it clear they had a closer and more special bond than people may have thought. And though not every royal grandkid posted a public a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II (at least not yet), we know they are privately thinking about how much they miss her today.
