Ah, there’s nothing quite like mom-shaming during the holidays. Celeb moms are a particular target for online shaming (Jessica Biel can tell you all about it), and honestly, it’s getting out of control.
Kim Kardashian West once again found herself on the receiving end of an internet smackdown over her parenting choices. This time? Trolls are hopping mad that Kardashian West let her older daughter, North West, 5, rock red lipstick in a family photo shoot.
Kardashian West was happy to share her family’s holiday card photo on Instagram, with the whole family rocking formal duds and looking seriously glam. Rapper icon and husband Kanye West holds their son, Saint, 3, while daughter Chicago, almost 1, is perched on her mom’s hip. Kardashian West captioned the shot simply, “Merry Christmas.” In the pic, North is most obviously sporting lipstick — nothing subtle going on there, admittedly.
Aaaand, predictably, the internet no likey.
“[North] would’ve been perfect without the lipstick,” criticized one commenter.
“North looks ridiculous,” scoffed another.
“[M]ad that she’s cooler than me and she’s like 5,” wrote a third.
“That little girl is too young for red lips,” someone else chimed in.
And yet another hater: “In my opinion, makeup on young children does not seem appropriate. And no need to worry, I stopped following all if [sic] the Ks.”
But others supported North’s look in the photo shoot (after all, she is a model already):
“North is SLAYING!! Love her pose AND her fun lipstick for the party!,” one commenter raved.
Another wrote, “Yall its lipstick like Calm tf Down .. Ur not Norths Mother so Back off.”
TBH, we’re just excited we were on the Kardashian West’s Christmas card list this year. So can we all make a mutual New Year’s resolution to knock it off with the mom-shaming? Please?
