Can’t get enough of Gunner! Heidi Montag and her son were attached at the hip after his birth.
“When we started filming [The Hills: New Beginnings], Heidi was a very, very intense-attachment parent,” her husband, Spencer Pratt, told Us Weekly exclusively. “I’m sure some would say extreme, but to me it was just being a super mom.”
The reality star, 35, went on to say that while his wife, 32, got used to leaving their now-20-month-old son, there were “some very intense” moments. “She had not left Gunner even for five seconds for, like, almost a year to that point,” Pratt told Us. “That was a major adjustment and process for her. To be honest, if it [wasn’t] for The Hills, I don’t know if she would have ever left Gunner’s side.”
The Princes of Malibu alum added of the Hills sequel, which premieres June 24: “[It] was incredible for … being healthy parents, having boundaries.”
Montag was able to adjust by gradually giving Gunner space. “We started with … a 20-minute dinner with FaceTiming, checking in,” her husband told Us. “It was a process.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2008, welcomed their son in October 2017. “We are so blessed to have a beautiful healthy baby boy,” the fashion designer told Us exclusively at the time. “It was the hardest and most rewarding experience.”
Pratt said the experience was “officially the most lit day of [his] life.”
Us broke the news six months earlier that the TV personalities had a little one on the way. “Heidi has wanted to be a mom since the day I met her,” the then-dad-to-be told Us. “She has planned for and thought about this.”
