Even though Noah Centineo, who plays Peter Kavinsky in Netflix's All the Boys I've Loved Before, is ushering in a new wave of teen heartthrobs, Ansel Elgort still the #mcm of many. I might be basing this assessment on the amount of DMs I get from my friends with photos from his Instagram Story, including everytime he wears neon nail polish. Or maybe it's just the simple fact that he's nice to look at.
On a less superficial level, it could be his impressive résumé. Over the past five years, Elgort has starred in blockbuster movies and topped music charts as a singer/DJ. But he recently added another role to his CV: the new global ambassador of Ralph Lauren Polo. You can catch his undeniably handsome face in the campaign for the brand-new Polo Red Rush cologne.
To celebrate his new job title, Allure recently got to ask the multi-hyphenate about how he keeps his skin so clear and if he's picked up any beauty tips from his friends from K-pop group BTS.
On the nostalgic quality of fragrances.
"In my mind, scent and sound are the most important senses," Elgort says. "If you hear an old song you haven’t heard in a long time, it can bring you back to a place. If you smell something from your childhood, it brings you back to a feeling. It’s a very powerful thing."
Whenever I get a whiff of Victoria's Secret Heavenly, I immediately think of my uncle's ex-wife — even though I haven't seen her since I was about 11. Clearly, Elgort understands this feeling.
On getting product recommendations from his girlfriend.
On Instagram, you can often catch maskies on Elgort's feed. He's even slathered his face with Glamglow's #Glittermask. You can thank his girlfriend, Violetta, for these sparkly self-care moments. "Most of the products I try come from Violetta," he says. "She’s constantly giving me new things to try."

On his ever-changing skin-care routine.
I'm sorry to break it to you, but there isn't some magical part of Elgort's skin-care routine that makes his skin clear and smooth. Elgort doesn't have a go-to elixir or unexpected trick for applying products. Instead, his regimen is quite fluid and laissez-faire.
"My skin care depends on where I am and if I feel like taking care of my skin," he says. "Sometimes, I wash my face, sometimes, I use moisturizer, and if I’m in the sun, I’ll use sunscreen." In fact, days will go by where he doesn't do anything to his skin. Elgort figures he can fix whatever damage that may cause later.
On his appreciation for the beauty of BTS.
Elgort has notably spent time with members of BTS. He's just as mesmerized with their stunning smoky eye looks and bright hair colors as Allure editors are. "I love how fearlessly they are styled," he says. "I love the makeup they wear and their hairstyles — it’s cool and different." He has a theory that people in America are getting so excited about K-pop based on these beauty facets alone. "Their style choices are more exciting and out-there than what we’re seeing here," he adds.

On learning beauty tips on set.
Being on set has taught Elgort the basics of his seemingly simple beauty routine. "I really didn’t know anything about skin care until I was on my first movie set," he says about his behind-the-scenes experience while shooting the remake of Carrie. "The makeup team said to me, 'Your skin is so dry — you know you can moisturize.'" He goes on to joke that his reaction was, "Like hand cream for your face? What do you mean?" Wow.
You can probably replicate Ansel Elgort's simple skin-care regimen, but you can also nab something else from his beauty routine right now: Shop the new Ralph Lauren Polo Red Rush for $85 on sephora.com.
