Mere moments after news broke in July that Clarisonic would be going out of business, practically every brush, brush head, and accompanying skin-care product the legendary device brand made sold out on the official website and that of authorized retailers. Shoppers were told that they could get 50 percent off until the anticipated September 30 shutdown, but the inventory barely made it a day, sending fans to the deepest corners of internet auctions to find what they needed.
In a cinematically heroic plot twist, however, CurrentBody, a retailer known for selling beauty devices, has managed to scoop up Clarisonic's remaining inventory. That's right: There are still products out there. And by out there, we mean now in CurrentBody's possession. According to a statement from the retailer, it "worked closely with Clarisonic's owners to reach a global stock agreement that would allow CurrentBody to meet the anticipated significant demand for both devices and brush heads."
And we're not talking just a few dozen items. "We have had a strong relationship with our partners at L’Oréal over many years and have reached an agreement that will see us maintain product on most key lines for years to come," says CurrentBody CEO and cofounder Laurence Newman. Years to come.
Allure asked Newman exactly what that means. "Being experts in devices and leaders in cleansing, we are confident from the deal we have concluded that nobody who owns or wants a new Clarisonic will be disappointed, particularly during the holiday period," he said, emphasizing how important it is to avoid buying counterfeit or knockoff products "We can't give an estimation on stock because, at the moment, so many people are searching for us, but we hope to keep some great offers and bring back some amazing gift sets for Christmas."
