If you were also too distracted by the beach and booze over Labor Day wekeend to catch the Venice International Film Festival, let me fill you in because some major hair moments were had. On September 3, Kristen Stewart (who plays Princess Diana in Spencer, which premiered at the festival), revealed a new hair color and cut that's longer and warmer than anything we've seen on her in quite some time.
Although the actor has been known for years for her shaggy platinum-blonde pixie cut, she's grown it out to a shoulder-length bob with a sunny, strawberry-toned shade of blonde. The look was achieved by Stewart's right-hand hairstylist, Adir Abergel, and colorist Daniel Moon. "Collaborating with this human for over 15 years has been such a gift and a beautiful journey," Abergel wrote on Instagram. "Hair can be such a beautiful way to express yourself and to have fun with and to tell a different story."
The duo lightened Stewart's hair with bleach and used Virtue Color Kick (Abergel's own brand) to prevent her hair from becoming damaged. Then, "they applied multiple strawberry tones throughout her hair, leaving some of the lighter blondes out," a press release from Virtue explains.
After creating this long and layered bob, Abergel prepped Stewart's hair for the red carpet with Virtue Create Volumizing Primer (applied everywhere) and Healing Oil (applied just on the ends) before blow-drying it and placing it in rollers to set.
