Kate Middleton Reveals Her Kids Didn't Get a Homeschooling Break

Welp, just when we were feeling all relieved about just how little homeschooling time our kids are actually supposed to get (20 minutes a day for Pre-K? Little did I know, I’m doing GREAT at homeschooling my 4-year-old!), here comes Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, aka Kate Middleton, to show us all up. Not only are she and Prince William finding homeschooling their kids to be “fun,” but they’ve found it so delightful they’ve powered right through the holiday would-be breaks with ongoing daily schooling. Way to be just as Type A as we imagined, guys.

“Don’t tell the children,” Kate told the BBC this week. “We’ve actually kept it going through the holidays. I feel very mean!”

Wow, vacation-free homeschooling would not fly in my house. Unless a house-wide Easter egg hunt is considered school? No? Well then.

Still, it seems that Prince George, who’s 6, Princess Charlotte, who’s 4, and Prince Louis, who’s about to turn 2 (is “school” even involved at that point?! IDK) are not hating their perma-homeschooling life. “The children have got such stamina, I don’t know how,” Kate added in the interview. “Honestly, you get to the end of the day and you write down the list of all the things that you’ve done in that day. So, you pitch a tent take the tent down again, cook, bake. You get to the end of the day — they have had a lovely time — but it is amazing how much you can cram into one day that’s for sure.”

Still, at least even these picture-perfect royals have their more human moments. Kate admits homeschooling and isolation have “been ups and downs, like a lot of families self-isolating” and that “it gets a bit hectic, I am not going to lie, with a two-year-old.” You can say that again.

At least said two-year-old is there to provide some necessary levity, too — apparently by constantly hanging up on video calls with Prince Charles.

“For some reason, he sees the red button and he always wants to press the red button,” William told the BBC. Sounds like a spirited kid we’d like to hang with, for sure. After all, even a prince deserves to be hung up on, sometimes. Good for the ego, eh?

If you’re struggling with homeschooling more than the royals seem to be, here are some ideas for keeping kids busy during school closures.
