Here's Where to Get Maternity Clothes That Don't Scrimp on Style

Gone are the days when the only clothing options for pregnant women were enormous tent dresses, shapeless tunics and leggings. Maternity wear has come a long way since then – and there’s no reason why you can’t look just as stylish as you do when you’re not with bump.

Whether your personal style vibe is laid back or glam, romantic or sexy, edgy or chic – or a mixture of any or all of the above – these retailers are guaranteed to offer up something you’ll be excited to wear during pregnancy. From a great pair of skinny maternity jeans to a bathing suit that won’t make you feel like a beached whale this summer, you’re guaranteed to find a few maternity wardrobe staples.

Old Navy

An old favorite, you can’t go wrong with Old Navy for maternity fashion basics, like leggings, jeans, tees, and layering tanks. The website makes maternity clothes shopping a cinch, with an option to shop by trimester and sections like “nursing” and “hospital to home.” The range of maternity jeans is particularly impressive, with styles to suit every stage of pregnancy and every possible length, cut and level of distress.

Séraphine

If there’s one store that gets the seal of approval from celebrity moms-to-be, it’s Séraphine. This online shop for you even has a “Celebrities Love” section, where you can see what the likes of Kate Middleton, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Thandie Newton and Zoe Saldana have dressed their baby bumps in. And don’t think that the prices are only fit for celeb budgets – you can get a formal dress for less than $100, and the sale always has generous reductions.

Isabella Oliver

Another fave with A-listers, London-based Isabella Oliver has been spotted on everyone from Kourtney Kardashian to Serena Williams. As well as buying new, you can buy pre-loved items, which is perfect for those one-off outfits for a wedding or party during pregnancy that you don’t want to splash out on. Isabella Oliver also encourages their customers to spread the love by passing their garments on to other moms-to-be (check out #iopasstheparcel on Instagram).

Hatch

Hatch was born out of mom Ariane Goldman’s frustration with the frumpy maternity clothes on the market. She set out to create her own line of chic, timeless clothing for expectant moms, and in 2018 Hatch was named the best maternity clothing brand in The Bump Best of Baby 2018 awards. You can shop by 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th trimester on the website, and The Cozy Edit offers the ultimate in mama-to-be comfort. Price-wise, it’s at the top end, but the pieces are cleverly designed to be worn before, during and after pregnancy, so there’s plenty opportunity to get your money’s worth.

ASOS

For on-trend maternity wear that’s also on budget, ASOS needs to be bookmarked ASAP. There huge range includes dozens of brands, such as Topshop, Little Mistress, Queen Bee, and New Look, as well as the store’s own line, ASOS DESIGN. You could spend all day scrolling through more than 1,500 options – it’s basically a one-stop shop for all things maternity.

PinkBlush

PinkBlush offers timeless, quality maternity wear to suit all shapes and sizes, including petite, tall and plus. Finding maternity bathing suits that fit well, provide support to growing bumps (and boobs) and also look stylish can be one of the biggest pregnancy wardrobe challenges. But PinkBlush has a wide range of one- and two-piece suits in every color under the sun.

Mom’s the Word

“We know that a pregnant woman can look just as sexy, just as chic, just as stylish, just as hot, just as good as anyone else, maybe even more so,” says the Mom’s the Word website. That’s a pretty good sign that this online store (there are also three brick stores in California) is a great place to shop for maternity clothing. Their nursing dresses and jumpsuits are stylish and practical, and lots of the items can be worn beyond pregnancy, like the Lux Leather Patch Jacket from Fifteen Twenty.

A Pea in the Pod

A Pea in the Pod is packed with seriously stylish brands, like Citizens of Humanity and BCBGMaxazria. It has a stellar maternity bra/panty range, extremely covetable slogan tees (“Mother Hustler” and “Proud Mama” for starters), and comfortable, stylish activewear. Sign up for A Pea in the Pod’s Perks and you’ll get discounts, samples, and exclusive offers from A Pea in the Pod, Destination Maternity, Motherhood, and more.

Ingrid & Isabel

Ingrid & Isabel takes pregnancy comfort seriously, with active pants that are so supportive – they have a crossover panel for all the back support you need for your growing belly – you’ll never want to take them off (and that’s your prerogative). They’re also the brains behind Bellaband®, the seamless, belly band that helps you stay in your regular clothes longer.
