Since stepping away from Royal duties, the world has waited with eager anticipation to see just what direction Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will take their global stardom and careers. Now, it appears we’re getting our first taste of what’s to come from their creative collaboration, with the pair having announcing the first show of their multi-million dollar deal with Netflix, titled Heart of Invictus.
The documentary will cover the behind-the-scenes story of the Invictus Games, following a number of individuals who are competing at the Prince Harry-backed sporting event for injured veterans. It’s believed Harry will even appear on camera and be credited as an executive producer on the series, which will cover the lead up to the 2022 Invictus Games in The Hague.
Fans of the couple will be familiar with their recently-formed television production arm, Archewell Productions, which will also serve to produce the show. The announcement of the new show is certainly in keeping with the vision of the production company, with Archewell’s mission statement claiming the couple wants to produce programmes that “utilise the power of storytelling to embrace our shared humanity and duty to truth through a compassionate lens.”
The couple has brought in director Orlando von Einsiedel and producer Joanna Natasegara to oversee the making of the project, both of whom previously created the documentaries The White Helmets and Evelyn for Netflix.

Understandably, income from this business venture will be much appreciated by the royal couple who will use such ventures as a means of supporting their new life in California. During their tell-all interview with Oprah, Harry revealed that he had never planned to create content for streaming services but that his family had been short on funds. “That was suggested by somebody else by the point of where my family literally cut me off financially, and I had to afford security for us…From my perspective all I needed was enough money to be able to pay for security to keep my family safe.”
Still, the project is an interesting one and will shine a light on an important event that doesn’t receive nearly enough recognition as it so deserves. If this is the direction the couple are now taking, we are right behind them.
