Hair loss can be a natural part of the ageing process, and most of the time, it’s nothing to worry about. We can even lose up to 100 hairs on our bodies every day, without even noticing. But you could prolong the life of your locks by regularly using rosemary oil, it’s been revealed.

Losing your hair could be caused by a number of different conditions, said the NHS.

Stress, weight loss, or even an iron deficiency can lead to some form of hair loss.

But there are some home treatments you can use that might help to prevent some types of hair loss, including alopecia.

One of the easiest ways to stimulate hair growth at home is to simply use rosemary oil on your scalp, it’s been claimed.

Rosemary oil helps to boost both hair thickness and growth, according to medical website Healthline.

The remedy also helps with cellular regeneration, and is just as effective as some more common hair growth treatments, scientists have claimed.

If you decide to use rosemary oil on your scalp, you won’t need much to have the desired effect.

Simply mix a few drops with a carrier oil; for example, olive or coconut oil.

“If you want to improve both hair thickness and hair growth, rosemary oil is a great choice thanks to its ability to improve cellular generation,” it said.

“According to one study, rosemary oil performed as well as minoxidil, a common hair growth treatment, but with less scalp itching as a side effect.

“Mix several drops of rosemary oil with olive or coconut oil, and apply it to your scalp.

“Leave it in for at least 10 minutes before washing it out with shampoo. Do this twice per week for best results.”

Meanwhile, you could also lower your risk of hair loss by using a garlic gel.

Garlic gel is one of the best natural treatments for hair loss, according to University of California, Irvine researchers.

It contains antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, which are crucial for protecting against further hair loss.

Garlic is also rich in vitamins B and C, as well as manganese and selenium, all of which promote healthy hair.

Losing your hair isn’t necessarily something to be worried about.

But on rare occasions, it could be a tell-tale sign of another medical condition.

You should speak to a doctor if you suddenly start losing your hair, or if you develop bald patches.

There are other treatments for hair loss – including transplants – but they aren’t available on the NHS, and you’ll need to pay for them.
