John Legend’s genes have the world quaking just as much as his and Chrissy Teigen’s bombshell baby news.

After announcing the jaw-dropping (and so incredibly exciting, wonderful, and happy) news of their fourth child’s arrival via surrogate, Teigen took to Instagram to show off her newborn son — and his outrageous head of hair. Sharing a video of adorable baby Wren, the Cravings author wrote, “the hair. simple plan is shaking.”

And truly, they must be — the infant has a full head of thick, luscious black hair that’s naturally sticking up in the perfect faux hawk. One fan hilariously commented, “He came out ready for 2007 Warped Tour 😂,” and they aren’t wrong.

While the pop-punk band may be shooketh over the latest Stephens baby’s natural edgy ‘do, the rest of the world is reeling over how much Wren looks like his daddy — and therefore how much all of the couple’s kids look like the “Wild” crooner.

Fans of the family of six expressed their wonder at Wren’s doppelgänger appearance fresh out of the womb, with one commenting, “OMG he looks more like John than John does.” Another user wrote, “John’s genes don’t play,” while others commented on how much the newborn looks like his big brother Miles — which is indirectly saying he looks like the EGOT-winning musician.

“Hi, John! Or Miles…❤️,” a well-wisher wrote, with others commenting, “Big Miles energy!😍” and “He looks just like Miles! ❤️.” And someone made the joke we all thought in our minds: “Those genes are Legend-ary 😂❤️”

Oh, and Simple Plan did drop into the comments section, which shook fans of all parties to the core even more. The band adorably wrote, “Can confirm … that hair is pop-punk perfection! 🤩🤘Congratulations! ❤️,” and frontman Pierre Bouvier commented his own disbelief with, “Wait…. Was that a simple plan reference? 🧐. Congratulations!!!!” The world is a simulation, and we’ve never been happier to be a part of it.

On June 28, Teigen shocked the world with the sweetest, most heartwarming announcement: She and Legend completed their family with a fourth child. This of course came as a shock since the duo just welcomed their daughter Esti a few months ago, but the former model explained the road to welcoming their second son beautifully.

“For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted four children,” Teigen began on Instagram. “After losing Jack, I didn’t think I’d be able to carry any more babies on my own,” she admitted, explaining she and Legend contacted a surrogacy agency in 2021 to help them have two more children.

The mom of four continued, “At some point, early in our surrogacy journey, I came out of a therapy session, walked downstairs, and said to John — I want to try to carry just one more time. If it doesn’t work, we’ll be okay. We’ve already seen the worst.” She added, “I remember saying I just couldn’t go on wondering my whole life if I should have tried again.”

So they started IVF, the same process that allowed them to get pregnant with their eldest kids, and it worked. They were pregnant with their third child — and soon after, a surrogate became pregnant with their fourth: Wren Alexander Stephens. Pass the tissues, and keep them coming!

After the heartbreaking loss of their son Jack in 2020, we — and the world as a collective — couldn’t be happier for Teigen and Legend. In addition to late baby Jack and newborn baby Wren, the couple also shares daughters Luna Simone, 7 years, and Esti Maxine, 5 months, as well as their 5-year-old son, Miles Theodore. And, somehow, they’re all Legend’s mini-mes.
