Trying new things! Sutton Foster and her husband, Ted Griffin, may have a toddler at home, but they keep their romance alive with “can’t say no dates.”
“We plan these surprise dates for each other, and the only rule is that you can’t say no,” the Younger star, 44, who has partnered with LACTAID to celebrate Sesame Street’s marquee year as the official milk of their 50th Anniversary Road Trip, told Us Weekly exclusively on Wednesday, June 19. “It’s not like, ‘OK, you have to eat a spider.’ We try to be very gentle about it. … He planned a date for me once where we took a Latin jazz class at Lincoln Center. Then he took me to go listen to jazz music at Dizzy’s, which is at the Time Warner Center, and we had dinner at this fabulous place that we’d never gone to.”
The actress and the screenwriter, 48, like doing things they “don’t normally do” on these dates, including seeing Broadway shows, eating at taco stands and even indoor skydiving.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2014, welcomed their daughter, Emily, 2, in 2017 — and Foster says the little one has yet to live up to the “terrible twos.”
“She’s still just a delight,” the dancer told Us. “She’s just a remarkable kid. I’m in awe of her every day. … A lot of people have warned me, [saying], ‘It’s not really the twos, it’s the threes.’ She’s very strong-willed so I know that that might come, but right now she’s incredible. She’s, like, a great hang.”
In fact, the toddler likes to hang out on set with her mom. “We brought both our babies to work a lot,” Foster told Us exclusively last month of her costar Hilary Duff, who welcomed her daughter with fiancé Matthew Koma in October. “Banks was there a lot and Emily came to visit three or four times a week. Emily would go, ‘Baby Banks! Baby Banks!’ and wanted to hold the baby.”
