Saying hi to Hope! Hoda Kotb adopted her second daughter after adopting Haley Joy, now 2, in 2017.
The Today show cohost, 54, called in to make her announcement on Tuesday, April 16. “She is laying on the pillow right now,” the journalist told her cohosts over the phone. “I’m feeding her. I can’t believe it.”
The You Are My Happy author added: “I’m sitting here and, you know, you think that maybe you have gotten what you deserve, but man, I’m so happy she is here.”
The moment that she met her baby girl, the Emmy winner said that her heart “grew 10 times.”
As for Haley, the little one “literally walked up to [Hope] and looked at her and goes, ‘Hope.’ It was, like, one of those moments,” Kotb explained.
Not only that, but the new big sister’s instincts have already kicked in. “This morning at breakfast, she was trying to feed her raspberries,” Kotb revealed. “I was like, ‘Not yet, babe.’ She was literally marching around saying, ‘I’m a big sister.’ … She did try to crawl into her bassinet.”
After sharing her adoption news with the world, the Oklahoma native took to Twitter to relay how much she appreciated the support.
“Just a note to say thank you for all the love,” she wrote on Wednesday, April 17. “I am reading every single one of your messages …every single one …my heart is bursting.”
Her former cohost, Kathie Lee Gifford, shared her happiness for Kotb on The Five on Tuesday. “Hoda’s a momma again,” the singer, 65, said. “I’m thrilled about that. I knew it was coming. I just didn’t know when it was coming.”
