How did you start playing AFL?
I grew up with football in my blood, I look back at photos of me as a newborn and I’m in my football jumper. My uncle was coaching the local junior under-9s side back in the day and took me down to a training session and, 14 years later, I’m still running around loving this great game.
What do you love most about the game?
The physicality, the competitiveness and the mateship you create with the people you play with.
How are you feeling about the new AFL Women’s league?
I feel so lucky to be a part of this incredible journey, which will give all young girls something to aspire to. Something I didn’t have when I was little.
What are the main ways AFL enhances your fitness?
AFL enhances your fitness in so many ways and you get to have fun doing it! From the cardio side of things, lots of running including intervals and sprints as well as gym work, ensuring your building up your body for the physical aspect of the game: leg power, upper body strength and a good strong core.
What would you say to a woman toying with the idea of joining an AFL team?
Give it a go and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

What was your pre-season training like?
We [trained] as a group down at Fremantle three times a week: our main training session, strength training in the gym, injury prevention and craft. Away from the club I do additional strength sessions as well as cardio boxing which I really enjoy.
What don’t most people know about you?
For the past two years I’ve coached an all-male prison football team. I have the best job in the world!
Favourite fuel/recovery food
I cook and meal prep each Sunday, usually meals for after training – anything from steak and veggies to home-made chicken fried rice and quinoa.
What do you love doing in your downtime?
When I get down time… [laughs] I love the beach, travelling, and staying in to watch movies!
