One marker of a new season is a switch-up in style. Whether that means layering outerwear or changing our skin-care routines to include more nourishing formulas, as winter hits the drop in temperature is inevitably reflected in our appearances. By switching California blonde for a deeper brunette shade this October, Hailey Bieber has succumbed to the allure of the hibernation hue.
Ideal for those months that most of us prefer to spend staying in and getting cozy, a hibernation hue is a darker hair color that is infinitely more low-maintenance than its lighter counterparts. It also looks great set against the deeper, warmer shades of autumn and the festive reds and greens of winter after that.
Bieber, who has slowly (and expertly) segued into brunette, having sported lighter balayage through her lengths and ends for a while, has now – it seems – taken the plunge into the dark side with only a smattering of golden tips around her face. Ultra flattering, the new shade sets off her brown eyes and skin tone to perfection.
For reference, take a look at Bieber's hair at the Met Gala on September 13. Her hair is slightly darker at the roots and fades into a soft, honey-colored blonde at the ends.
Now, as revealed in an October 21 Instagram post, Bieber's hair takes on a pure chocolate tone, an expert match to her naturally full and dark eyebrows.

Styled in a long bob courtesy of hairstylist Bryce Scarlett, Bieber is (forever) on-trend — as, as a bonus, will spend much less time in the highlighting chair from now on. Hibernation hue, here we come.
